Cadet Jakob Brooks, son of Ronald and Lori Brooks of Waterboro, has completed Cadet Basic Training at the U.S. Military Academy, West Point, N.Y. He is a graduate of Massabesic High School, Waterboro.

Navy Seaman Brittany D. Barrett, daughter of Lori and Kevin Barrett of York, recently completed Navy basic training at Recruit Training Command, Great Lakes, Ill. Barrett is a 2007 graduate of York High School and is a 2011 graduate of Geneva College, Beaver Falls, Pa.

Coast Guard Seaman Alexander M. Van Vliet, nephew of Mary Jane Harding of Topsham, recently graduated from the Coast Guard Recruit Training Center in Cape May, N.J. Van Vliet is a 2010 graduate of Niceville (Fla.) High School.
