PORTLAND — A woman was struck and injured as she attempted to cross a busy intersection at Exit 48 in Portland tonight.
State Trooper Fern Cloutier said the woman, 35-year-old Jennifer Trott, and a male companion, 29-year-old Vaughn Clark of South Portland, were crossing in the vicinity of the exit ramp when a car hit Trott.
Clark was not injured, but Trott was transported by ambulance to Maine Medical Center with what was believed not to be life threatening injuries.
The accident took place around 8 p.m.
The driver of the vehicle that hit Trott was not charged.
