AUGUSTA — Gov. Paul LePage has appointed 15 members of a task force that will recommend how to expand early college opportunities for high school students.

Making college-level courses and other postsecondary education opportunities available to high school students was a theme of LePage’s gubernatorial campaign.

A 19-member task force to figure out how to do this will include representatives from higher education, K-12 schools, non-profit organizations focused on expanding educational opportunities and associations representing teachers, principals, superintendents and school board members.

Maine House and Senate presiding officers will select two members each from their own chambers to serve on the task force.
