SOUTH HIRAM – The Fryeburg field hockey team showed a flair for the dramatic Monday in a showdown with Sacopee Valley.

Ellen Bacchiochi scored the game’s only goal with 31 seconds left to give the Raiders (5-1) the win over the Hawks (4-2). Sage Hennessy assisted on the goal. Fryeburg goalie Brittany Fox recorded fives saves for the shutout.

Ashley Pingree had 10 saves for Sacopee Valley

TRAIP ACADEMY 1, CAPE ELIZABETH 0: Kendra Kagiliery scored with 5:30 left in regulation to break a scoreless tie and lift the Rangers (2-4) to a win over the Capers (2-3-1) at Kittery.

Emily Bolton made 15 saves to record the shutout for the Rangers and Traip midfielder Ashley Caldwell also played a strong game.

Cape Elizabeth keeper Juliann Ayers finished with seven saves.

FREEPORT 4, OLD ORCHARD 0: Katie Turner and Kayla Thurlow each had a goal and an assist as the Falcons (4-2) blanked the Seagulls (1-4) at Freeport.

Patricia Lyons and Olivia Bubar also added scores.

PORTLAND 2, THORNTON ACADEMY 0: Raechel Allen and Cat Flaherty each scored a goal to carry the Bulldogs (3-4) past the Trojans (3-4) at Portland.

Eleni Anderson assisted Flaherty on her goal. Portland goalie Rachel Waterhouse made six stops.

YORK 3, NORTH YARMOUTH ACADEMY 0: Cari Posternak had two goals and an assist to power the Wildcats (5-1) past the Panthers (3-2) at York.

Taylor Simpson also scored for York. NYA goalie Elizabeth Coughlin made 11 saves.

BOYS’ SOCCER

GORHAM 4, DEERING 0: Connor Reagan scored a pair of goals and Chandler Reagan collected three assists as Gorham (3-2) pulled away from visiting Deering (3-1) in the second half.

Spence Cowand and Alex Owens each added a goal for Gorham, which led 1-0 at halftime.

Gorham keeper Carter Bowers made five saves to record the shutout.

WESTBROOK 4, SANFORD 2: Joe Quinlan scored a pair of goals, including the eventual game-winner on an assist from Kyle Gaudreau midway through the second half, as the Blue Blazes (1-4-1) held off Sanford (0-5) at Westbrook.

Gaudreau and Conner Richardson finished with one goal and one assist apiece for the Blue Blazes.

Connor McGehee and Gabriel Zimmer each scored a goal for Sanford.

BUCKFIELD 7, GREATER PORTLAND CHRISTIAN 1: Luiz Guillereme scored a pair of goals to pace the Bucks (3-3) as they scored five unanswered goals in the second half to down the Lions (2-4) at Buckfield.

 

SACOPEE VALLEY 2, NORTH YARMOUTH ACADEMY 1: Trey Watson scored on an assist from Mitchell Watson with 4:30 left in regulation as the Hawks (6-0) rallied for a win over the Panthers (3-3-1) at South Hiram.

NYA opened the scoring on a penalty kick by Forest Milburn with 28 minutes left in the second half.

Mitchell Watson tied the game for the Hawks six minutes later on an assist from Nate Foster.

GIRLS’ SOCCER

MT. ARARAT 2, EDWARD LITTLE 1: Haley Michaud scored in the second overtime to send the Eagles (3-1-1) to a victory over the Red Eddies (0-2-1) at Topsham.

Jaclyn Masters put Edward Little on the board first on a corner kick.

Sydni Clark answered in the second half for Mt. Ararat, assisted by Nicole Ross.

Shauna Williams made four saves for the Eagles.

Red Eddies keeper Taylor Landry stopped 12 shots.

ST. DOMINIC 2, HALL-DALE 0: Courtney Costello scored unassisted early in the second half after a scoreless first half to spark the Saints (4-2) over the Bulldogs (3-3) at Auburn.

VOLLEYBALL

GORHAM 3, CONY 0: Vicki Parker finished with eight aces and 27 service points and Grace Eaton added four aces, 11 service points and 12 assists to lead Gorham (3-2) to a straight-set win over visiting Cony (1-5).

Gorham also got seven kills from Lexi Merrifield and six kills from Lindsay Chapman.
