OGUNQUIT — Two members of the Kennedy family will be in Maine to mark the 10th anniversary of a charity Ogunquit restaurateur Donato Tramuto founded in response to the Sept. 11, 2001 terrorist attacks.
Kerry Kennedy, president of the Robert Kennedy Center for Justice and Human Rights, and Joseph Kennedy III, an assistant district attorney in Middlesex County, Mass., will join Maine Democratic U.S. Rep. Michael Michaud and 200 guests at today’s event.
Donato Tramuto had planned to be on the second plane to hit the World Trade Center towers. A last-minute decision put him on an earlier flight, but his two close friends and their 3-year-old son were killed that day.
The Tramuto Foundation was established to honor his friends’ memory, recognize nonprofits that help communities, and provide college scholarships.
