YARMOUTH — North Yarmouth Academy will hold an official installation ceremony for new Head of School Brad Choyt at 1 p.m. Wednesday in the gymnasium at 154 Main St.

More than 450 people are expected to attend, including students and faculty. The event, including student musical performances, is free and open to the public. A reception will follow under a tent in front of the Curtis Building at 148 Main St.

Choyt was appointed last October and came to work at the academy in July, replacing Peter Mertz, who had been head of school for a decade.

Choyt is a New Hampshire native and graduate of Phillips Exeter Academy, Brown University and the University of Pennsylvania. He is the former headmaster of the creativity-focused Blue School in New York City. He and his wife, novelist Charlotte Bacon, live in Yarmouth with their three children.

The 198-year-old academy is a private, co-educational, college-prep school for students in grades 5 through 12.
