KITTERY — Kittery police arrested two New Hampshire women on prostitution charges following a sting Thursday.

Police charged Michelle Blackey, 25, of Nashua and Jamie Michaud, 28, of Hudson on misdemeanor charges of engaging in prostitution. The pair were arrested by an undercover officer at the Day’s Inn on the Route 1 Bypass at 3:30 p.m. Michaud also was charged with possession of buprenorphine and marijuana.

Police Chief Edward Strong said the pair had been advertising online since April and maintained a blog to reach potential customers, he said.

Local police were assisted by officers from the Portsmouth, N.H., Police Department.

They are scheduled to appear in court Dec. 8
