LEVANT — A historic farmstead in Levant has been heavily damaged by flames.

Fire officials say the blaze that broke out Monday night on Stetson Road West started in a barn and spread to an attached two-story home.

The family who lived in the home managed to escape and no injuries were reported.

The home, once part of a cattle farm, dates back to 1853. Officials said it may be a total loss.

About 75 firefighters battled the blaze, which is under investigation.
