BRIDGTON — Authorities say the man who died when his car crashed in Bridgton as he tried to evade a police pursuit was driving with a suspended license.

The victim of the crash Sunday afternoon was identified as 22-year-old Travis Horan of Naples.

Police say an officer tried to stop the vehicle at about 12:30 p.m. for speeding on Willis Park Road, but the car sped away on route 302.

Police say witnesses told them the car then turned on Kansas Road at a high speed.

Officers say the driver lost control, went airborne and hit a tree. Horan was the only person in the car.

The crash remains under investigation.
