BANGOR — Police say a Bangor man was arrested this week for repeatedly calling 911 to ask for a ride.

Officers found 34-year-old James Finlayson just after 1 a.m. Tuesday near his home. Police checked his cellphone and determined he had been making the calls, in which he used profanities.

Sgt. Paul Edwards tells the Bangor Daily News that Finlayson was “belligerent and nasty” when police asked him to get out of the road and stop yelling profanities. He then allegedly made an obscene gesture at police before he was arrested on charges of disorderly conduct and obstructing a public way.

He was taken to the Penobscot County Jail.
