BIDDEFORD — The pro-racino ballot committee Putting Maine to Work reported spending more than $2 million this month.

The group said it reported spending $2,056,589.97 on the campaign in its 11-day election report. The period covers the period between Oct. 1 and Oct. 25.  During that period, the committee received loans of $3,222,443.80 — all from Ocean Properties, Ltd.

The ballot question would allow slot machines at harness racing tracks in Biddeford and Washington County.

The proposed Biddeford Downs would be run by Ocean Properties Ltd. and Scarborough Downs, which say they would invest $120 million in the project.

The Passamaquoddy Tribe would own the racino proposed for Calais.
