CAPE ELIZABETH -Senior Andrew Lavallee rushed for all three of Cape Elizabeth’s touchdowns to help the Capers advance to the Western Class B semifinals with a 21-9 win over Greely on Friday night. Lavallee scored on rushes of five and seven yards in the first half and added his third touchdown run with 6:39 left to play in the fourth.

Lavallee’s third touchdown capped a 12-play drive that lasted for nearly half of the 4th quarter and provided a measure of insurance for the Capers, making the score 21-9. On that drive alone, Lavallee carried the ball 5 times for 24 yards while picking up crucial first downs and delivering the games final blow on a bulldozing 6-yard run.

The lone bright spots for the Rangers were the solid performances turned in by backs Mike Leeman and Svenn Jacobson, who carried the offensive load for the team. Jacobson added a rushing touchdown of his own late in the 3rd quarter with the Rangers trailing 14-3. Jacobson finished the night with 14 carries for 91 yards and a score.
