HAMPDEN – Grant Burfeind scored twice to lead Falmouth to a 2-1 victory over Camden Hills in the Class B boys soccer state championship game Saturday afternoon at Hampden Academy.

Burfeind, whose goal in the final minute of a 1-0 regional final victory over top-seeded York made Saturday’s appearance possible, split two defenders in the 67th minute after taking a long pass from Cameron Bell to score the only goal of the second half.

He also scored on a corner kick to give Falmouth (13-3-2) a 1-0 lead. Camden Hills (17-1) tied the score late in the first half on a goal by Sam Predham.

The title is the third in four years and eighth in 12 for Falmouth. No Eastern Maine team has won the Class B state title since Ellsworth in 1993.
