UPDATED 10 P.M.

Veteran Portland City Councilor Cheryl Leeman cruised to an easy win in her District 4 race Tuesday.

Leeman, who has served on the council for nearly 27 years, beat challenger Ezekiel Callanan 2,771, or 71 percent, to 1,124, or 29 percent, based on unofficial results.

Leeman had been challenged only twice before and ran unopposed for her last term on the council.

Leeman’s campaign was based on touting her experience, while Callanan had called for new energy and fresh perspectives on the council.

In the race for an at-large seat on the Portland School Committee, Elizabeth H. Holton beat Josephine Okot 8,736, or 60 percent, to 5,747, or 40 percent.

Justin L. Costa and Marnie Morrione won the district 4 and 5 seats, respectively, without opposition and John Coyne was returned to the council, winning his District 5 seat without opposition.
