YORK — A longtime Maine lobsterman has been honored with the highest annual award given by the Atlantic States Marine Fisheries Commission.

The commission this week presented the Capt. David D. Hart Award to Patten White, a lobsterman from York. The award was presented at the commission’s annual meeting in Boston.

White is lifelong lobsterman who has served on the Atlantic States Marine Fisheries Commission for more than 15 years. He has also served as executive director of the Maine Lobstermen’s Association and on other boards and associations working on lobster management issues.

The Atlantic States Marine Fisheries Commission oversees fishery management issues for 15 East Coast states from Maine to Florida.
