Porter’s touchdown in overtime sends Hamilton to CFL’s East Division final

Quinton Porter of Portland scored on a 1-yard run in overtime and Hamilton added a 2-point conversion to beat Montreal 52-44 on Sunday in the CFL’s East Division semifinals, ending the Alouettes’ bid for a third straight Grey Cup title.

Hamilton advanced to the East final next weekend at Winnipeg.

Porter, splitting time with starting quarterback Kevin Glenn, also had a 3-yard touchdown pass in the second quarter and a 1-yard touchdown run in the fourth quarter that gave the Tiger-Cats a 37-30 lead.

SOCCER: Nick Shaw of Mt. Desert Island scored twice to help the West take a 7-3 win over the East in the Maine Soccer Coaches Senior Bowl.

Robbie Lentine of Windham, Kevin Lubelczyk of Gorham and Tim Lavallee of Cape Elizabeth also scored for the West.

In the girls’ game, Jaclyn Masters of Edward Little scored twice for the East in a 5-3 win. Audrey Adkison of Gorham scored for the West.

BOXING

NEW ENGLAND CHAMPIONSHIPS: Portland Boxing Club open-class middleweight Jimmy Smith of Biddeford beat Mike Rodriguez of Springfield, Mass., in the semifinals of the USA Boxing New England Championships at Portland.

PBC open-class light welterweight Casey Kramlich of Auburn fell 3-2 to Nick Delumba of Cranston, R.I.

In PBC novice matches, middleweight Sasha Lamour of Portland beat Mark Barile of Windsor Locks, Conn.; welterweight Jayson Richter defeated Travis Demco of Stoughton, Mass.; and lightweight John Lopez of Westbrook beat Jonathan Angulo of Haverhill, Mass.
