WINSLOW — Jen Machin scored a goal and added an assist in the second period as the Brunswick High School girls hockey team earned a 4-1 victory over Winslow at Sukee Arena on Wednesday.

After a scoreless first period in which Brunswick outshot Winslow 16- 1, Machin’s unassisted goal at 3:46 of the second period gave the 1-1-1 Dragons a 1-0 lead.

Rachel Moroney doubled the lead on the power play three minutes later, with Machin and Eliza Brooks earning an assist each.

Annie Kelly’s goal just 32 seconds into the third period put Brunswick ahead 3-0, and Kelly’s second goal at the nineminute mark, from Moroney, completed the scoring.

Brunswick, which is slated to visit 0-1 Yarmouth on Saturday at 6 p. m. before hosting Scarborough at Sidney J. Watson Arena on Dec. 8, outshot Winslow (0-2) 47- 16, with goaltender Claire Mendes making 15 stops in her first varsity start.

Sarah Fowler scored the lone goal for Winslow, while netminder Jessica Cain turned aside 43 shots.

Brunswick was 1-for-3 on the power play, while Winslow failed to score in its two opportunities.
