BOSTON — Sophomore guard Luke Matarazzo scored five straight points in overtime and finished with 11 points and a career-high nine assists to help Bates edge Emerson 69-65 in a nonconference men’s basketball game Monday night.

Graham Safford led the Bobcats (3-2) with 18 points.

Nathan Firn scored 23 points for the Lions (1-6).

BOWDOIN 72, MAINE MARITIME 44: Will Hanley scored a game-high 20 points as the Polar Bears (5-2) scored the first 15 points of the game and were never challenged in a nonconference win over the Mariners (1-5) at Castine.

Bowdoin completely dominated the first half, holding a 37-7 lead at one point before settling for a 46-21 edge at intermission. Wyatt Littles added 12 points off the bench for the Polar Bears, who had 11 players score.

Brandon Theriault paced the Mariners with 13 points.
