PORTLAND — The Portland School Board has launched its search to find a replacement for current superintendent Jim Morse, who will retire in June.

The board has appointed a three-member committee to oversee the search. Board member Sarah Thompson will chair the committee, joined by fellow board members Jaimey Caron and Ed Bryan.

The committee will develop a workplan and timeline with the goal of hiring a new superintendent by June. The public will have opportunities to provide input, according to a Portland Public Schools press release.

New Portland mayor Michael Brennan, who made education a cornerstone of his campaign, has said he’d like to be actively involved in the search.
