DANBURY, Conn. – Courtney Cochran scored 34 points, including 10 in overtime, and grabbed 13 rebounds to power the University of Southern Maine to a 77-76 win over Western Connecticut State in a Little East Conference women’s basketball game Saturday.

Cochran started overtime with a layup, which was countered by Jackie Zilnicki’s 3-pointer that gave Western Connecticut (7-2, 1-1 LEC) a 67-66 lead.  The Huskies (6-3, 1-1) responded with an 8-1 run that featured three baskets by Cochran.

Nicole Garland added 16 points for USM.

UNE 55, ST. JOSEPH’S 38: Beth Suggs had 14 points and eight rebounds, and the Nor’easters (6-1) used a 13-0 run in the first half to take control against the Monks (4-5) at Standish.

Liz LeBlanc added 11 points for UNE. Reserve guard Danyelle Shufelt scored 11 points for St. Joseph’s.

BOWDOIN 83, EMERSON 59: Jill Henrikson scored 28 points and the Polar Bears (6-2) pulled away in the second half to beat Emerson (3-7) in Boston.

Amy Hackett contributed 13 points for Bowdoin.

COLBY 56, EMMANUEL 53: The Mules (6-1) used an 8-0 run in the second half to break a 37-37 tie against the Saints (5-3) at Boston.

Aarika Ritchie led Colby with 11 points.

SMCC 48, ST. JOSEPH (VT.) 40: Marissa Welch had 20 points and 11 rebounds for the Seawolves (10-1, 8-0 YSCC) in a win over the Fighting Saints at Rutland, Vt.

MEN’S BASKETBALL

ST. JOSEPH’S 84, SUFFOLK 67: Zach O’Brien connected on a pair of jumpers and two free throws, and Matthew Medeiros made consecutive 3-pointers during a late 14-2 run as the Monks (6-1, 2-1 GNAC) pulled away from Suffolk (4-5, 1-2) in Boston.

O’Brien finished with 23 points and Medeiros had 19.

SAN DIEGO 77, MAINE 63: Johnny Dee scored 26 points and led a second-half surge that helped the Toreros (5-4) pull away from the visiting Black Bears (3-4).

Dee tied the school record with eight 3-pointers, including two during an 11-0 run that made it 57-43 with 9:41 left.

Maine (3-4) was led by Gerald McLemore’s 23 points.

BATES 63, COLBY 36: Ed Bogdanovich had 22 points and 14 rebounds to lead the Bobcats (5-2) past the Mules (3-5) at Waterville.

WESTERN CONNECTICUT STATE 88, USM 58: Gary Robinson had 15 points and eight rebounds to help the Colonials (9-1, 2-0 Little East) beat the Huskies (6-3, 0-2) at Danbury, Conn.

Jeremy Jackson led Southern Maine with 21 points and 12 rebounds. Alex Kee added 12 points and eight rebounds.

ST. JOSEPH’S (VT.) 113, SMCC 56: Josh Mackie scored 10 points for the Seawolves (5-7, 2-5 YSCC) in a loss at Rutland, Vt.

MEN’S HOCKEY

BOWDOIN 7, CONNECTICUT COLLEGE 0: Timothy McGarry scored twice, and Colin Downey had a goal and two assists as the Polar Bears (5-3-1, 3-2-1 NESCAC) rolled past the Camels (2-6, 2-4) at Brunswick.

TUFTS 3, COLBY 1: Tom McGinn scored for Colby (2-6, 1-5 NESCAC) in a loss to the Jumbos (4-5, 3-3) at Waterville.

MAINE 2, UNION 2: Brittney Huneke and Jennifer More scored for the Black Bears (10-7-5) in a tie against Union (3-14-2) at Schenectady, N.Y.

COLBY 2, SOUTHERN MAINE 0: Brianne Wheeler made 34 saves as the Mules (3-4-1) shut out the Huskies (3-4-1) at Waterville.

NORWICH 4, BOWDOIN 1: Emily Tang scored the only goal for the Polar Bears (1-3-2) in a loss to the Cadets (10-1-1) at Northfield, Vt.
