CASCO — Donald Allen of Casco, who served as head of Maine’s corrections system under three governors, has died.

Allen, who was 74, died on Dec. 7 at his home.

An Army Reserves veteran, Allen graduated from Lafayette College in Easton, Pa., in 1959 and earned a master’s degree in education from the University of Southern Maine.

He was appointed by former Gov. James Longley to head Maine’s corrections system, and later served as commissioner under Govs. Joseph Brennan and John McKernan.

A celebration of life is scheduled for Saturday the First Parish Congregational Church in Yarmouth, Advantage Funeral and Cremation Services said.
