The Santa Claus Fund has reached out to our readers every day since Thanksgiving. The response has been overwhelming.

I am so glad that you are as passionate about this program as we are. Recognizing names from last year and the year before that, speaks volumes about the community support we have.

All of you make my job so much easier. I really appreciate that you have taken the time to open your hearts to help our kids.

Sitting here each night as I do, and seeing a familiar name, it inspires me to keep writing to you. Taking inspiration from you allows me to reach new friends as well.

I talk to many people who are not familiar with the Santa Claus Fund, believe it or not. I tell them about the need there is in our community, and what we do each year to help.

When you tell the people it’s for the children, they ask me, what can they do to help? I let them make the choices. Whether they send toys, send a check, or use their talents to make things, it is always welcome.

And it doesn’t matter if I reach them in person or through this column they are fast friends for many years. Such is the spirit of the Santa Claus Fund.

Today was a travel day for me and the Mrs. After eight hours, we finally arrived at our destination. We were greeted by little Noah and his mother.

He just awoke from his nap. Still a little groggy, he managed a little smile before he ran to his grandmother’s embrace. I got the smile too, but he wasn’t leaving Grammy’s arms, or she wasn’t letting go.

Not sure how that went. But no hard feelings here, we became fast friends a little later.

Nicholas, the 6-year-old got home from school shortly after our arrival. He coerced me to play “Mario” on his Wii game. I was hustled. I couldn’t win one race. It was embarrassing.

Thank goodness I had to write this column because it spared me any further humiliation. But enough about my day, let me catch you up on what transpired today at the Santa Claus Fund.

We received several donations and here is that list:

In closing, I wish to thank those volunteers back home for relaying the information that I passed on to you tonight. See you back here Monday.
