BRUNSWICK — Brunswick police charged a male juvenile with elevated aggravated assault Sunday afternoon after he allegedly stabbed a 44-year-old Brunswick man at the man’s home on Gurnet Road.

Scott Pelkey, 44, of 338 Gurnet Road was initially taken to Mid Coast Hospital in Brunswick for treatment of a stab wound, but was later transferred to Maine Medical Center in Portland, according to a release issued Sunday evening by Brunswick Police Sgt. Paul Hansen.

Pelkey is listed in satisfactory condition this morning, according to a nursing supervisor at Maine Medical Center.

Police responded to Mid Coast Hospital after receiving a report at 4: 13 p. m. from medical staff about Pelkey’s injuries, Brunswick Police Sgt. Russ Wrede said today. Pelkey was apparently stabbed just prior to the report.

Pelkey was stabbed in the torso with a knife, according to Wrede. Details about the injuries and the knife — which was recovered — were not available this morning.

Further information about the juvenile, including his age and place of residence, was not available. He was located, arrested and transported to Long Creek Youth Center.

The suspect is scheduled to appear in juvenile court at West Bath District Court on Feb. 15.
