BRUNSWICK — The Brunswick High School girls hockey team received two goals each from Annie Kelly and Rachel Moroney in a 5-2 victory over Yarmouth Monday night at Sidney J. Watson Arena.

“We had a few girls out with the flu and came out flat, but the girls found a way to win,” said Brunswick coach Bill Bodwell, whose squad is 7-1-1 and visits Edward Little/ Leavitt in makeup action on Wednesday at 3: 30 p. m. “ Yarmouth played us tough and almost pulled to within one in the third period, but (goaltender) Erin Gay made an outstanding glove save.”

Kelly (assisted by Jen Machin and Alexa Rivers), gave Brunswick a 1-0 lead at 8:08 of the first period, but Yarmouth (2-7) tied the game on a Suzanne Driscoll goal two minutes later.

The Dragons jumped ahead on Moroney’s first goal with 35 seconds remaining in the opening frame off assists from Eliza Brooks and Kelly.

Driscoll’s second goal tied it again early in the second, but Kelly (Brooks) put Brunswick ahead to stay one minute later, with Brooks (Kelly) making it a 4-2 game. Moroney put the game out of reach, with Kelly finishing up a four-point game with an assist.

The Dragons held a 30-14 shot advantage, with Gay turning aside 12 shots in the win. Hannah Williams had 25 stops for Yarmouth.
