PORTLAND — Brooke Flaherty scored 21 points Tuesday night as Cheverus downed Bonny Eagle 46-40 in a Southern Maine Activities Association schoolgirl basketball game at Keegan Gymnasium.
Cheverus (6-1) led 21-17 at halftime, then by as many as 12 points in the fourth quarter. Kylie Libby and Alexandra Palazzi-Leahy added 10 points apiece for the Stags. Abby Maker chipped in seven steals.

Alicia Hoyt scored 20 points for Bonny Eagle.

TRAIP ACADEMY 55, GREATER PORTLAND CHRISTIAN 18: Selena Lorrey scored eight of her 18 points and Alli Barrett added seven during a game-opening 22-3 run by the Rangers (5-2) against the Lions (2-2) at Kittery.

Kendra Kagiliery finished with 11 points for Traip. Suzanne Gonzalez led Greater Portland Christian with 10.

THORNTON ACADEMY 53, GORHAM 35: Meghan Agger finished with 31 points, including five 3-pointers, and Olivia Shaw added 14 points to lead the Golden Trojans (4-2) over the Rams (3-4) at Gorham.

Lexi Merrifield scored 11 points and Kristin Ross had 10 for Gorham.

RICHMOND 54, OLD ORCHARD BEACH 33: Jamie Plummer scored 21 points for Richmond (6-0), which took a 19-5 first-quarter lead against the Seagulls (1-4) at Old Orchard Beach.

Danica Hurley opened the game with a pair of 3-pointers, and Plummer and Alyssa Pearson also chipped in six points in the first quarter.

SCARBOROUGH 58, SOUTH PORTLAND 37: Mary Redmond scored 10 points in the second period as the Red Storm (7-0) pulled away from a 4-4 tie to open a 19-9 halftime lead against South Portland (4-4) at Scarborough.

Redmond finished with 20 points. Brianne Maloney scored 10 for the Red Riots.

PORTLAND 55, BIDDEFORD 42: Samantha Dobson scored four points and Angie Reali sank a 3-pointer in the first quarter to help Portland (1-7) open a 13-5 lead against the Tigers (1-7) at Biddeford.

After the Bulldogs led 37-30 through three quarters, Biddeford quickly cut the margin to five and twice missed opportunities to close within one possession. Nyaliep Deng and Reali then combined for 12 points on a game-closing 18-10 run for Portland.

Deng finished with 16 points and Reali 11. Bryanna Michaud scored 13 for Biddeford.

WELLS 44, FRYEBURG ACADEMY 27: Wells (5-2) held the Raiders (1-6) scoreless in the second quarter and pulled away at Fryeburg.

Allison Furness scored a game-high 16 points for Wells. Skye Dole had 15 for Fryeburg.

DEERING 66, KENNEBUNK 14: Ella Ramonas scored 12 points and Emily Cole had 11 for visiting Deering (6-2), which opened with a 24-0 run at Kennebunk (0-7).

MARSHWOOD 57, MASSABESIC 49: Jorden Mitchell scored 20 points and Aubrey Folger added 17 as the Hawks (6-2) handled the Mustangs (2-5) at Waterboro.

Mitchell scored eight points during a 19-12 third-quarter run that put the Hawks ahead 41-32.
Morgan Reny had 16 points, Christina Fetter finished with 13 and Emily Schatz 12 for the Mustangs.

MT. ARARAT 46, LEWISTON 23: Leah Hitchcock scored 16 points to lead Mt. Ararat (5-2) past the Blue Devils (0-7) at Lewiston.

Mallory Nelson scored eight of her 12 points in the first quarter to help the Eagles take a 21-4 lead.
Janessa Talarico led Lewiston with 11 points.

SANFORD 46, NOBLE 28: Grace Riley had 12 points and Shelby Paiement added 10 as the Redskins (1-8) handled the Knights (1-7) at North Berwick.

Samantha Adams added nine points and Maria Veino finished with nine rebounds for Sanford.

BRUNSWICK 54, ERSKINE ACADEMY 38: Julia Champagne scored 12 points and Melanie Bryant added 11 to lead Brunswick (4-4) over the Eagles (1-6) at South China.
