SANFORD – Brooke Flaherty scored 13 points Thursday night to lead Cheverus to a 31-19 victory against Sanford in a Southern Maine Activities Association schoolgirl basketball game.

The Stags (7-1) used a 12-3 run in the second quarter to take a 14-5 halftime lead.

Maria Veino scored 11 points for the Redskins (5-3).

MT. ARARAT 47, MESSALONSKEE 32: Mallory Nelson scored 11 points to help Mt. Ararat (6-2) down Messalonskee (5-3) at Oakland.

Molly Estes and Caitlin LaFountain added 10 points apiece for Mt. Ararat, which took a 13-5 lead in the first quarter.

Megan Pelletier scored 11 points for Messalonskee. Mary Badeen chipped in 10.

OLD ORCHARD BEACH 44, HYDE 20: Anna Foss scored her seven points in the second quarter as the Seagulls (2-4) used a 15-0 run to take a 19-7 halftime lead against the Phoenix (0-4) at Old Orchard Beach.

Christina Coleman had eight points to lead nine scorers for Old Orchard. Olivia Dubois helped hold Hyde’s leading scorer, Kara Fischer, to nine points.

RANGELEY 54, PINE TREE ACADEMY 13: Blayke Morin had eight points and 13 rebounds to pace the Lakers (6-1) over the Breakers (1-6) at Rangeley.

Beckie McGurie and Rebecca Moore-Myshrall scored four points apiece for Pine Tree.

BOYS’ BASKETBALL

MESSALONSKEE 68, MT. ARARAT 55: Messalonskee (1-7) had four double-digit scorers, sank 10 3-pointers and shot 18 of 21 from the line to beat Mt. Ararat (0-8) at Topsham.

Gage Landry led Messalonskee with 13 points, followed by Riley Wentworth (12), Luke Vigue (11) and Elijah Steele (10).

Josh Wright scored 15 points for Mt. Ararat. Brett Martin added 13.

BOOTHBAY REGION 71, TELSTAR 62: Anthony DiMauro scored 30 points and Ben Dickinson added 17 to lead Boothbay Region (7-1) past Telstar (3-4) at Bethel.

The Seahawks got points from five players, including six from DiMauro, during a 21-7 third-quarter run that gave them a 48-35 lead.

Dom Haines scored 25 points for the Rebels. Corey Howard added 15 and Daniel Whitney had 13.

HYDE 53, OLD ORCHARD BEACH 40: Wilson McMillian scored 16 points, Jonah Alexander added 13 points and 10 rebounds, and Hyde (4-0) used a 12-0 run in the fourth quarter to beat the Seagulls (2-4) at Bath.

Chris Moulton added 11 points with five blocked shots for Hyde.

Quincy Grace had 16 points for Old Orchard.

RANGELEY 58, PINE TREE ACADEMY 28: Eric White had 13 points and 19 rebounds as the Lakers (4-3) cruised past the Breakers (1-5) at Rangeley.

Zach Wilday led Pine Tree with 18 points.

BOYS’ HOCKEY

CAPE ELIZABETH 5, CHEVERUS 3: Nick Breed had three goals and an assist to lead the Capers (3-0-2) over the Stags (3-2) at Portland. Chris Grennon and Donald Clark also scored for Cape. Harry Ridge had two goals and Cameron McLain one for Cheverus.

SCARBOROUGH 9, SOUTH PORTLAND 2: Garrett McDonald had three goals and Trevor Murray added two as the Red Storm (5-1) handed the Red Riots (2-4) at Portland.

After falling behind 2-1, Scarborough went ahead 6-1 with six straight goals in the second period.

MHW 5, BRUNSWICK 2: Dan Condon had a hat trick as the Hawks (4-2) beat the Dragons (2-4) at Brunswick.

GIRLS’ HOCKEY

YORK 7, PORTLAND-DEERING 1: Nicci Heroux had three goals and two assists to lead York (7-1-2) over the Bulldogs (6-3) at Portland.

Olivia Leroux added two goals and one assist. Carly Lee and Tori Stocks had a goal and an assist apiece.

BRUNSWICK 4, EDWARD LITTLE-LEAVITT 3: Suzannah Smith scored in overtime as the Dragons (8-1-1) rallied past Edward Little/Leavitt (5-4) at Auburn.

KENNEBUNK 4, GORHAM 3: Ned Richard scored the final three goals for Kennebunk (3-2), including in overtime, against Gorham (3-3) at Biddeford.
