Singer- Songwriter Catie Curtis from Saco will perform a benefit concert for Safe Passage at Bowdoin College’s Pickard Theater at 7:30 p.m. Feb. 3.

Admission costs $ 20. Advance tickets are on sale at any Bull Moose Music store or online at safepassage.org/concert.

Curtis has been called “a folk-rock goddess” by the New Yorker. She has played at the White House, and had her music featured on television shows such as “Grey’s Anatomy” and “Dawson’s Creek.”

Curtis often champions social justice organizations, and her concert at Bowdoin will benefit Safe Passage. Hanley Denning, a Maine native and Bowdoin College graduate, founded Safe Passage in 1999. Denning’s goal was to provide a safe alternative for children and families recycling trash in the dangerous toxic environment around the Guatemala City garbage dump.

Denning died in a tragic car crash on Jan. 18, 2007. Safe Passage continues her mission.
