PORTLAND — Alysia Zoidis, owner of East End Cupcakes in Portland, was the runner-up in a cupcake war last night on the Food Network.

Zoidis appeared on a “Cupcake Wars” episode on the Food Network that celebrated the 60th anniversary of the “I Love Lucy” show.

In the first round of the competition, Zoidis and her friend Shana Treger made a “Vitameatavegemin” cupcake, an homage to the “I Love Lucy” episode in which Lucy is hired to do a TV commercial for a health tonic that makes her tipsy.

Zoidis ran out of time in the second round, but still made it through to the finals. In the final round, she and her partner were tasked with baking and decorating 1,000 cupcakes in under two hours. The cupcake baking team finished as the runner up.

The episode will air again on Tuesday at 8 p.m. on the Food Network.
