BRUNSWICK — Doris May Bailey, 83, passed away Saturday, February 18, 2012 at Horizons Living Center.

She was born in Greenville on November 26, 1928, the daughter of George and Gertrude Raymond Libby. She graduated from Greenville High School in the class of 1946 and from Maine General School of Nursing in Portland in 1949.

She began her career in April of 1950 at the Bath Memorial Hospital. She first worked as an operating room Nurse and then worked for many years as a 3-11 supervisor. In 1970 she resumed work in the operating Dept. and became supervisor for that Department. She retired in 1982 after 32 years of service due to ill health.

In 1985 she and her husband Clayton began spending winters in Largo, FL after his retirement and they also traveled all over the United States. She loved traveling and visiting with family and friends.

Her beloved husband Clayton passed away on July 6, 1991. Besides her parents she was also predeceased by her brother Francis G. Libby in 1974 and sister Octavia M. Galagher in 1981.

Doris enjoyed cooking and getting together with family and friends. She loved to read and play cards and bingo. After her husbands death she enjoyed spending her winters in San Diego with her son and his family and their little dog Mackenzie, who was her constant companion.

She is survived by her son Richard C. Bailey and wife Barbara of San Diego, CA, daughter Cynthia D. Frazier and husband Randall of Lisbon Falls, four granddaughters, Jennifer L. Caron and husband David of Brunswick, Jessica A. Layne and husband Dennis of Mesa, Ariz., Joanna M. Adinolfi and husband Richard of East Northport NY, and Julia M. Bailey of San Diego, CA, and two great granddaughters, Arianna E. L. Caron and Amelia C. Adinolfi.

Visiting hours will be 11:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m. on Feb., 21, 2012 at The David E. Desmond & Son Funeral Home, 638 High Street, Bath, Maine, followed by a Memorial Service at 1:00 p.m. Burial will be in Grover Cemetery Woolwich, following the ceremony.
