BRUNSWICK — A trio of Bowdoin College men’s ice hockey players were honored in All- NESCAC awards announced on Thursday.

Senior defenseman Jordan Lalor and sophomore forward Colin Downey were both named First Team All-Conference, while freshman forward John McGinnis was recognized as the NESCAC Rookie of the Year.

Lalor enjoyed a career year for the Polar Bears with 27 points on eight goals and 19 assists. Bowdoin’s top playmaker, Lalor leads all NESCAC defenseman and is second on the team in scoring. He currently ranks third in the nation in points per game among blue-liners and has scored 66 points in 96 career matches.

Just ahead of Lalor on the Polar Bear stat sheet is Downey, collecting eight goals and 21 assists for 29 points. Half of his eight tallies have proven to be the game-winner for Bowdoin.

The sophomore came on strong down the stretch as Bowdoin clinched the second seed in the NESCAC Tournament, notching 10 points in the final four games of the regular season and earning conference Player of the Week honors.

McGinnis is one of only two Polar Bears to have suited up for every game this season. He leads all NESCAC freshmen in goals (10), assists (16) and points (26).

McGinnis is the fourth Polar Bear to take home the conference’s freshman player award since 2000.
