AUGUSTA ( AP) — The Maine Human Rights Commission has ruled that a Windham police officer was subjected to sexual harassment at work and was retaliated against when she reported the treatment.

The commission in a report released Monday said Officer Danielle Cyr was subjected to unwanted touching by a male colleague, who also urinated in front of her, yelled at her in front of civilians and put her life in danger by not properly assisting her on the job.

The harassment started in March 2009 and went on until the other officer was fired in October 2010. Cyr took a leave of absence but recently returned to work.

The commission recommends both sides try to reach an out-of-court settlement.
