DOVER-FOXCROFT — A 37-year-old Brownville woman has gone on trial for allegedly giving marijuana and alcohol to her daughter’s 13- and 14-year-old friends.

Tanya Donnelly is being tried on charges including aggravated unlawful furnishing of marijuana, furnishing of alcohol to minors, and endangering the welfare of a child.

The Bangor Daily News reports that the girls testified in Piscataquis County Superior Court on Tuesday that they were attending a birthday party last March when Donnelly talked them into walking to her house, where three of the girls smoked marijuana. They also testified that Donnelly later bought alcohol for them.

Her lawyer pointed out that the prosecution presented no photos of the leaves and seeds allegedly found at her home and no one at the Brownville Police Department was an expert in marijuana identification.
