SANFORD — Samantha Adams pitched a five-hitter with 10 strikeouts and two walks Tuesday to lead Sanford to a 5-0 victory against Westbrook in a Southern Maine Activities Association softball game.

Caitlin Pierce drove in two runs with a single in the second inning for the Redskins (3-0) against the Blue Blazes (1-2).

 

GREELY 11, LAKE REGION 5: Danielle Cimino struck out eight in a five-hitter and also had a pair of hits, including a triple, to lead the Rangers in an opener at Naples.

Kathryn Whittum added three hits and an RBI, and Caroline Hamilton hit a pair of singles for Greely.

POLAND 11, YORK 5: Brittina Maheux’s bases-loaded double started a six-run first inning for the Knights (1-2) against York (0-2) at Poland.

Maheux knocked in two runs with the double. Kelsey DeBurra went 3 for 4 for Poland.

 

THORNTON ACADEMY 21, PORTLAND 1: Brooke Cross drove in seven runs to led Thornton Academy (2-0) over Portland (0-2) in five innings at Saco.

Cross had two doubles and a home run, Samantha Shildroth also homered and finished with three hits and four RBI, and Bailey Tremblay knocked in three runs on three hits, including a homer.

Julia Geaumont allowed one hit, struck out six and walked none.

SACOPEE VALLEY 13, TRAIP ACADEMY 0: Ashley Pingree struck out eight in a three-hitter, and Julia Vacchiano had a pair of hits and drove in two runs as the Hawks (2-0) downed the Rangers (0-2) in six innings at South Hiram.

Melissa Mayhew and Michelle Pellegrino each added a single and a double for Sacopee.

Katherine Volpe had two hits for Traip.

 

GORHAM 14, BONNY EAGLE 2: Patty Smith had four hits and Sam Robinson added three as the Rams (1-0) beat the Scots (0-2) at Standish.

Smith hit three singles to go with a bases-loaded triple during a six-run fourth inning as the Rams opened a 9-1 lead.

Erin Smith and Valencia Jordan each had two hits for Gorham.

Rebecca Howell had two hits and a run for the Scots.

 

MASSABESIC 5, WINDHAM 3: Dani Egan allowed five hits with 13 strikeouts and four walks as the Mustangs (3-0) beat the Eagles (0-2) at Waterboro.

Emily Shatz hit an RBI double in the first inning, and Kaely Lucier and Meryl Richardson added back-to-back RBI singles in the fourth as Massabesic built a 4-0 lead.

NOBLE 4, BIDDEFORD 2: Amber Kelly struck out seven and waked none to lead Noble (2-0) over Biddeford (0-3) at North Berwick.

Noble took the lead in the third inning. Molly Pritchett hit an RBI triple and after fouling off seven pitches, Deven Goss followed with a homer to right.

 

YARMOUTH 8, WELLS 5: Melissa Lewinson hit her second RBI double of the game during a four-run fifth inning as the Clippers (2-0) took an 8-1 lead and held off the Warriors (0-2) at Wells.

McKenzie Gray struck out five and walked one, scattering 10 hits for Yarmouth.

FALMOUTH 17, NORTH YARMOUTH ACADEMY 3: Meg Fortier collected four goals and two assists to lead the Yachtsmen (2-0) past the Panthers (0-2) at Yarmouth.

Geneva Waite and Molly Ryan added three goals apiece, and Waite also had two assists for Falmouth.

 

CAPE ELIZABETH 15, FREEPORT 7: Talley Perkins and Lauren Steidl each collected four goals and one assist for the Capers (2-0), who scored five goals in the first two minutes and downed the Falcons (0-2) at Freeport.

Bella Robinson added three goals and one assist, and Emily Spidle finished with two goals and one assist for the Capers.

GREELY 11, YORK 9: Audrey Parolin had four goals and two assists as Greely (1-1) beat York (1-1) at Cumberland.

Etta Copenhagan added three goals for the Rangers.

 

MASSABESIC 12, CHEVERUS 9: Rayne Whitten and Heather Everette each had three goals and two assists for the Mustangs at Waterboro.

Alyssa Gilman chipped in two goals and four assists, and Megan Hill made 11 saves for Massabesic.

 

BRUNSWICK 16, MESSALONSKEE 6: Dakota Foster scored seven goals to lead the Dragons (1-0) over Messalonskee (1-1) at Brunswick.
