OWLS HEAD — Maine State Police are investigating the death of a 5-month-old boy in Owls Head.
The Bangor Daily News reports the Knox County Sheriff’s Office was called to a home about 7:30 p.m. Tuesday regarding an infant who was unresponsive. When a deputy arrived, the boy already had been taken to Pen Bay Medical Center in Rockport by emergency medical services.
Authorities said EMS personnel performed cardiopulmonary resuscitation on the child. But he was pronounced dead by 8:45 p.m.
As is standard procedure based on state law, the death of any child younger than 3 years old is investigated by the state police.
