LEWISTON — A 19-year-old Oxford woman has been released on $50,000 unsecured bond after her first court appearance on manslaughter charges connected to the death of two passengers in the car she was driving.

Kristina Lowe as also ordered by a judge on Wednesday to have no contact with state witnesses in the case or with any members of the victims’ families. The Sun Journal reports she must also refrain from all alcohol or drugs and is prohibited from driving.

Police say Lowe was driving 75 miles per hour, had been drinking and smoking pot and was texting on her cellphone when she crashed in West Paris shortly after midnight on Jan. 7.

Nineteen-year-old Logan Dam of Norway and 16-year-old Rebecca Mason of West Paris were killed. A third passenger survived.
