WESTBROOK – The Westbrook Police Department has concluded that an incident that led to the shooting death of a 29-year-old man in a Brown Street apartment was not suspicious.

On Monday afternoon, Westbrook Police Capt. Tom Roth said that the police have finished looking into the incident and have determined that no crime had been committed and there would be no further investigation.

The incident occurred at approximately 3:30 a.m. on May 4. Police said that the man, whose name was not released by investigators, died at the scene from what was deemed an “accidental, self-inflicted gunshot wound” in a report released by police. Police said that an effort to resuscitate the man at the scene was unsuccessful.
