The work is required as part of the construction of a replacement bridge.
Detour signs will be posted to direct drivers to alternate routes.
The Maine Department of Transportation said construction of a new Veterans Memorial Bridge is on schedule to open this summer. The existing bridge will be removed by the end of the year.
