State prosecutors have charged an Arundel man with murder in the death of his 10-week-old son.

The Attorney General’s Office announced this afternoon that Gordon Collins-Faunce would be charged with depraved indifference murder in addition to elevated aggravated assault, aggravated assault and assault.

The new charge follows the death of the Ethan Henderson Tuesday morning. The boy had been on life-support since he was brought to Maine Medical Center in Portland Saturday morning with brain injuries.

Collins-Faunce told police that he lost control and grabbed the baby by the head and threw it into a chair Saturday morning.

To prove depraved indifference murder, the state would have to show that Collins-Faunce may not have meant to kill his son but acted with total disregard for the value of human life.

Collins-Faunce is being held in York County Jail on $100,000 bail. He is scheduled to be formally charged with murder at an initial appearance in York County Superior Court Friday.
