HARRISON —  The Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office says it does not expect to bring charges in connection with a crash in Harrison involving a logging truck that took the lives of a mother and daughter.

The driver, 63-year-old Linda Labonte of Harrison, was pronounced dead at the scene of the May 2 crash. Her mother, 85-year-old Carmen Smith of Harrison, was a passenger in the car and she was pronounced dead at a hospital.

The Sun Journal reports that the driver of the logging truck was not hurt.

Authorities say the truck left the road and crashed, partially spilling its load of logs.

The Department of Environmental Protection responded to the scene to clean up about 180 gallons of diesel fuel.
