St. Joseph’s received the No. 2 seed for its NCAA Division III baseball regional at Mansfield, Conn., and will play its tournament opener Wednesday against seventh-seeded Bowdoin, which received an at-large bid to the 56-team NCAA tournament field announced early Monday morning.

Southern Maine is in the same regional, as the No. 6 seed, after winning the Little East Conference tournament Sunday. The Huskies (27-17) open against No. 3 Trinity (32-9), which beat Bowdoin (25-18) in the New England Small College Athletic Conference final.

St. Joseph’s (35-5) has been waiting for the NCAA pairings since it won the Great Northeast Athletic Conference championship on April 29. The Monks will try to avenge a 9-4 loss to Bowdoin last month.

Eight regional champions advance to the national championship tournament May 25-29 in Appleton, Wis.

Here are the seeds for the regional in Connecticut:

1. Wheaton (34-8)

5. Western New England (33-11)
