SOUTH BERWICK — Luke Fernandes scored the winning run on a throwing error in the seventh inning Tuesday as Marshwood rallied to an 8-7 victory against Deering in a Telegram League game.

Fernandes singled, moved to second on a walk to Matt Brenner and scored on an overthrow while attempting to steal third base for the Hawks (9-2).

Deering (4-6) went ahead 7-2 when Ben Peterson and Jared Bell hit two-run singles during a four-run fifth.

Marshwood tied it with five in the bottom of the inning. Fernandes hit a three-run homer and Brenner capped the rally with a double.

Alex McLean struck out two and gave up one hit over the final two innings for his first win.

Will Barlock finished with two hits and three RBI for Deering.

WESTBROOK 5, KENNEBUNK 1: Kyle Heath drove in two runs with a triple during a five-run fifth inning to help the Blue Blazes (8-2) down Kennebunk (2-8) at Westbrook.

Westbrook rallied after the Rams scored in the top of the inning. Sam Stauble added an RBI single to the rally.

Wining pitcher Joe Dvilinsky struck out eight, walked one and allowed four hits.

 

MASSABESIC 6, GORHAM 3: Brandon Coulombe hit a two-run single in a five-run second inning and Massabesic (4-6) held off the Rams (3-7) at Gorham.

Hunter Duncan of Massabesic had a perfect game through six innings before Mark Ridgeway led off the seventh with a single. Duncan then gave up singles to the next three batters and Gorham scored three runs in the inning.

Duncan finished with seven strikeouts and one walk.

 

SCARBOROUGH 4, NOBLE 1: Connor McCann and Nick Bagley drove in runs to help Scarborough (9-1) get by Noble (4-5) at North Berwick.

Winning pitcher Jamie Lapham gave up five hits, struck out one and walked one.

Corey Halliday of Noble allowed two earned runs, striking out eight and walking three.

POLAND 12, SACOPEE VALLEY 6: C.J. Martin relieved in the third inning and allowed two hits the rest of the way to lead Poland (4-6) over Sacopee Valley (2-8) at South Hiram.

Martin walked one and struck out five.

Dillon Douglas paced the Knights with two RBI.

 

BIDDEFORD 1, CHEVERUS 0: Patrick Wilson pitched a three-hitter with four strikeouts and one walk as Biddeford (6-5) beat Cheverus (5-4) at Portland.

The Tigers scored in the sixth inning when Cory Greenleaf hit a one-out single to bring in Zack Jacques from second base.

 

SOUTH PORTLAND 4, BONNY EAGLE 1: Matt DiBiase scattered seven hits and struck out seven, and Nick Whitten drove in two runs as the Red Riots (3-7) defeated the Scots (4-6) at South Portland.

After Tom Hazelton hit an RBI single in the first for Bonny Eagle, the Red Riots scored single runs in four consecutive innings, beginning in the second on a single by Nick Whitten.

 

MARANACOOK 3, MEDOMAK VALLEY 0: Zach Elwell pitched a four-hit shutout as Maranacook (6-2) beat Medomak Valley (4-5-1) at Waldoboro.

THORNTON ACADEMY 6, SANFORD 3: Brandon Briggs had three hits with two RBI to lead the visiting Golden Trojans (5-4) over Sanford (3-6).

Josh Coffin hit a two-run single in the second inning for Thornton.
