STONY BROOK, N.Y. – William Carmona went 2 for 4 with a triple, a home run and four RBI to lead Stony Brook to a 13-6 win over Maine on Friday in the championship game of the America East baseball tournament.

The Seawolves took a 7-6 lead in the sixth when Carmona tripled and scored on a single by Maxx Tissenbaum. Carmona added a three-run homer in the seventh.

The top-seeded Seawolves (46-11, 24-3) received an automatic bid to the NCAA Division I tournament, while the fourth-seeded Black Bears ended their season 28-28, 12-13.

Maine got its only lead, 3-1, with three runs in the second on a single by Tyler Patzalek that scored Fran Whitten, followed by a two-run homer from Ian Leisenhemer.

Stony Brook tied it at 3 in the bottom of the second on a two-run single by Travis Jankowski, then went ahead 6-3 the next inning on an infield single, a bases-loaded walk and a sacrifice fly.

Maine advanced to the title round with a 5-1 win over Binghamton earlier in the day. Mike Connolly struck out six in eight innings of five-hit ball and Colin Gay had two hits with two runs scored.
