BRUNSWICK — Maine State Music Theatre has added an additional performance for the a cappella performance by The Dartmouth Aires on June 18 at 2 p.m. The 7:30 p.m. performance already scheduled for that evening quickly sold out back in May.

A limited number of premium seating is available in the front rows of the orchestra section of the Pickard Theater. Student discounted pricing is also available. Ticket prices range from $17 to $50. Tickets can be purchased by calling 725-8769 or by visiting www.msmt.org. Pickard Theater is located at 1 Bath Road on the campus of Bowdoin College.

The Dartmouth Aires are Dartmouth College’s oldest a cappella group and received national acclaim when they competed on the 2011 season of NBC’s “The Sing Off.” Their original arrangements of popular music combined with their charismatic stage presence made them a favorite among both fans and the show’s judges: Ben Folds, Shawn Stockman of Boyz II Men fame and Sara Bareilles.

The Aires’ lead singer on the show, Michael Odokara- Okigbo, is a native of Portland with many fans in the area.

The Aires are the first of three special concert events being offered by MSMT this summer. On July 9, MSMT will present the local folk duo Schooner Fare and on Aug. 13, MSMT presents a concert version of one of their most popular productions, “Always … Patsy Cline,” starring MSMT’s original cast, Charis Leos and Jenny Lee Stern.

MSMT’s Monday night concerts are very popular, bringing unique and quality entertainment to the people of Midcoast and Southern Maine, states a release.

The season of Broadwayquality musicals at Pickard Theater kicked off on Wednesday with the 10-time Tony-winning, and winner of the Pulitzer Prize for Drama, “A Chorus Line.” MSMT’s production promises to be a unique and exciting production of this musical because it is being directed and choreographed by Donna Drake and Michael Gorman, both members of the cast during the musical’s original and historic run on Broadway. Tickets to all MSMT events can be obtained by calling 725-8769.
