SOUTH BERWICK – Eighth-seeded Bonny Eagle broke a tie with a four-run sixth inning Thursday and stunned top-ranked Marshwood 6-3 in a Western Class A baseball quarterfinal.

Tom Hazelton hit a two-run single, Evan Amell had an RBI single and the Scots (8-10) scored the other run on a fielder’s choice in the sixth.

Outfielder Matthew Burnell made a difficult running catch to end one of Marshwood’s rallies.

Matt Brenner drove in two runs, Jack Verrill had two hits with an RBI, and Luc Fernandes was also a repeat hitter for the Hawks (14-3).

CAPE ELIZABETH 9, GREELY 6: Sam Kozlowski hit an RBI double and an RBI single, and finished with three hits to lead the ninth-seeded Capers (10-8) over the top-ranked Rangers (15-2) in a Western Class B quarterfinal at Cumberland.

With Cape leading 2-1 in the top of the sixth, Kozlowski laid down a squeeze with the bases loaded that scored three runs thanks to a throwing error. Kozlowski later stole home.

The Capers then added three in the seventh.

Mike Leeman had a pair of hits and scored twice, and Pete Stauber also had two runs for Greely.

FALMOUTH 7, SPRUCE MOUNTAIN 3: Thomas Fortier pitched a four-hitter and Ryan Conley laced a key two-run single to lead the second-seeded Yachtsmen (14-3) to a Western B quarterfinal victory against 10th-ranked Spruce Mountain (12-6) at Falmouth.

Conley’s hit highlighted a five-run third inning that made it 6-0. Grayson Beressi added an RBI double in the third.

Fortier struck out six, allowing two earned runs. Beressi and Drew Proctor had two hits each for Falmouth.

SCARBOROUGH 8, THORNTON ACADEMY 0: Joe Cronin struck out nine and surrendered three walks in a no-hitter as the second-seeded Red Storm (15-2) downed the seventh-ranked Trojans (11-7) in a Western Class A quarterfinal at Scarborough.

Brendan Hall finished with three hits and four RBI, and Ben Wessel added an RBI triple for Scarborough, which broke the game open with a five-run fifth inning.

WINDHAM 1, BIDDEFORD 0: Joe Francouer drove in John Weymouth with a single in the the 10th inning to lead the third-seeded Eagles (13-4) past the sixth-ranked Tigers (9-9) in a Western Class A quarterfinal at Windham.

Cody Dube went all 10 innings for Windham, scattering seven hits with seven strikeouts.

YARMOUTH 9, MARANACOOK 2: Eamon Costello and Caleb Uhl scored on defensive miscues in the first inning, Costello singled home Mike Smith in the second, and the fourth-ranked Clippers (11-6) went on to defeat fifth-seeded Maranacook (11-7) in a Western Class B quarterfinal at Yarmouth.

Chester Jacobs of Yarmouth allowed two hits over seven innings, including an RBI single by Nick Lacasse, and one earned run.
