BANGOR — Bangor police say one person has died and seven others required medical treatment after a three-vehicle crash.

Police say 68-year-old Diane Morrison of Bangor was killed when the vehicle in which she was riding collided with another car before crashing head-on into a third vehicle about 6 p.m. Sunday at the intersection of Broadway and Burleigh Road.

Authorities say Morrison was in a car driven by her husband when it careened off another car on Broadway before veering into oncoming traffic.

Seven people were either transported to local emergency rooms by ambulance or went on their own.

The crash remains under investigation and police are asking for witnesses to come forward.

The Bangor Daily News reports that a speeding 72-year-old male driver, Ralph Morrison, may have been the cause of the crash. Morrison was taken to Eastern Maine Medical Center.

“His condition is not known at this time,” said Bangor police Sgt. Paul Edwards, according to the Daily News. Edwards described Morrison’s condition as “incapacitated” and unable to answer questions on Sunday night.
