At the Brunswick Downtown Association (BDA), we strive to enhance and enliven the community as a whole. Our goal is to continue to develop and maintain what is already a vital, hospitable and lively downtown to ensure a welcoming location for congregating, socializing as well as commerce.

As such, we collaborate with the town and work with businesses, nonprofit organizations and residents to create a community that is a source of pride for all. In working toward this goal, BDA coordinates downtown improvement projects, sponsors public programs and organizes special events.

The upcoming First Days of Summer is a perfect example of a BDA-sponsored event. Both business and family friendly, the First Days of Summer will be Brunswick’s official kickoff of the summer season.

More than 30 businesses will be involved, offering special promotions, in-store activities and entertainment. Just visit participating locations from June 18 to June 23 to take advantage of their discounts and special activities.

Be sure to have your First Days of Summer Guide stamped or signed each time you visit a participating business so you can be entered in the gift certificate drawings. One drawing entry will be submitted per stamp and signature.

Guides can be obtained and raffle entries should be turned in at any participating location or at the Brunswick Visitor Center. Visit www.brunswickdowntown.org for a complete listing of participants, as well as details on the promotions and special activities planned.

Saturday, June 23, the last day of the event, will feature a sidewalk sale throughout the downtown and family friendly games and activities on the Mall. In addition, there also will be a Brunswick-wide community yard sale.

Want to clean our your closets? There’s still time to register. Any residential property within the town of Brunswick is invited to participate.

The yard sale registration form can be found at www.brunswickdowntown.org. Registration is required to be included in the event promotion. Registered yard sale participants will be featured on the BDA website and in a yard sale flyer, which will list yard sale addresses and a short description of the items being sold.

Yard sale fliers will be available at the Brunswick Visitor Center and Curtis Memorial Library.

Another family-friendly, BDA-sponsored event is the Music on the Mall concert series. Enjoy a variety of musical shows, every Wednesday evening, starting at 6 p.m. June 27 on the Brunswick Mall. Grab a blanket, bring your family and friends, order a picnic dinner or dine at a local Brunswick restaurant, then relax and enjoy great music.

The Music on the Mall concerts will run throughout the summer. For a listing of the concert schedule, visit www.brunswickdowntown.co m/MOTM.
