Officials investigate report of bear attacking woman
Wildlife officials are investigating a report of a bear attacking a woman outside her home in Grafton.
Authorities said the bear, apparently attracted by the smell of food cooking, lashed out at the 46-year-old woman as she opened her door to let her dog out about 10 p.m. Saturday. The woman fell to the ground, while the dog attacked the bear in defense.
WMUR-TV said the woman was taken to a hospital with cuts to her arms. The dog was unharmed.
WAREHAM, Mass.
Driver going wrong way crashes, killing motorist
State police say a Brockton man drove the wrong way on Route 495 in Wareham, crashing head-on into another driver who was killed.
Phendy Pamphile was removed from his vehicle and hospitalized Saturday night with what police said was a serious leg injury. Police said they are investigating to determine what charges the 26-year-old Pamphile will face.
Christopher Elicier of Wareham was ejected from his vehicle by the impact of the crash. Wareham rescue workers declared him dead at the scene. Elicier was 43.
State police said neither driver wore a seatbelt.

Ski New Hampshire elects new board of directors
Ski New Hampshire has elected its board of directors for 2012-2013.
The chairperson is Kris Blomback of Pats Peak Ski Area in Henniker. Ben Wilcox of Cranmore Mountain Resort in North Conway will serve as vice chairperson. Rick Kelley of Loon Mountain in Lincoln will serve as treasurer.
Ski NH is the statewide association representing 33 alpine and cross-country resorts and more than 200 lodging and guest service properties.

N.H. attorney general issues warning about Haiti appeals
The New Hampshire attorney general’s office is warning residents about a group that claims to be raising money for Haiti but hasn’t registered with the state.
The office’s charitable trusts unit has sent multiple letters to a group called “Relief Fund of Haiti,” but all the mail has been returned.
Any nonprofit organization soliciting donations in New Hampshire is required to register with and report to the attorney general. Attorney General Michael Delaney said anyone who receives a request from the group should exercise caution and notify the charitable trusts unit.
