Looking for something to do with your out-of-town guests this summer?
Maine Foodie Tours has been showing tourists around Portland’s food scene for the past three years, and now it is expanding to Kennebunkport.
The company did a trial run of its new Kennebunkport trolley tour with invited guests last Wednesday, then launched its first public run Thursday. The tours rotate through seven different inns, visiting four on any given day.
“It’s not a lot of time, actually, on the trolley, so most of it is spent inside the locations, sampling their appetizers and having a small portion of a signature cocktail,” said Pamela Laskey, the founder of Maine Foodie Tours.
A Kennebunkport walking tour that will go from Dock Square down into the lower village will launch in the next few days.
At each stop on the two-hour trolley tour, the guides will give a tour of the inn, and talk about the history of the place and what’s on its menu.
Participating inns include the Cape Arundel Inn, where chef Rich Lemoine will feed trolley riders lobster rolls. Other stops will feature artisan cheeses, whoopie pies and salmon martinis.
Other participating inns include the Nonantum Resort, The Colony Hotel, the Captain Lord Mansion, the Captain Jefferds Inn, the Captain Fairfield Inn and the White Barn Inn.
The White Barn Inn will be serving some canapes, and then give a bartending lesson. On a trial run, Laskey said, “people really enjoyed getting inside to see the restaurant because there’s no open bar to the public.
“You really don’t have an opportunity to go in unless you’ve made a reservation for dinner,” Laskey said. “So I think it was a real treat, and they seemed to be really excited to be part of the tour.”
Tours run from 3 to 5 p.m. and will be held each Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Saturday through mid-October. The trolley holds up to 32 riders.

Laskey said the walking tour of Kennebunkport will be held in the late-morning hour and serve crab cakes, fish chowder, cheese, whoopie pie, beers, ice cream and other local goodies.
Laskey said she hopes to add more foodie tours in Bar Harbor by next summer.
