WESTBROOK – The Westbrook City Council’s Public Safety Committee will once again be taking up the issue of the city’s sprinkler ordinance at a meeting on Monday, June 25, at 6:30 p.m., in room 114 at Westbrook High School.

Last month, the council voted to approve an amendment to the city’s ordinance that would exempt projects from having to install sprinkler systems if the scope of the project did not exceed 75 percent of the floor area.

But a proposal by Councilor Mike Sanphy to exempt all existing single- and two-family homes from the ordinance will be up for discussion by the committee. The committee could choose to refer another ordinance change based on that proposal to the council for action.

Additionally, the council’s Facilities and Streets Committee will be discussing allowing vehicles to make a left turn on Main Street by CVS at a separate meeting the same night.
