AUGUSTA — Gov. Paul LePage says applications are being accepted from candidates interested in serving as a District Court judge.

LePage says his Judicial Selection Committee is accepting applications until July 9. The vacancy to be filled is the result of the retirement of District Judge Jessie Gunther.

The person selected will likely be assigned to Ellsworth District Court. As a result, applications will be considered from candidates who live within a reasonable commuting distance from Ellsworth.

The governor’s judicial appointees must be confirmed by the state Senate before they can be seated.

Application materials can be found online here.
